Car fire in Novato; driver rescued

While You Slept: The morning of Nov. 10 at about 4:15 a.m., police received a phone call regarding a vehicle revving its engine for about 20 minutes on Plum Street. Upon arrival, the vehicle caught fire. NPD Officers quickly removed the driver from the vehicle and requested the Novato Fire Protection District. Within a minute of NPD arriving on scene, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. NFD arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. The driver, a 45-year old Novato resident, was treated and released by NFD medical personnel at the scene. NPD conducted a DUI investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the driver for DUI related to Drugs. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.
