Dr. Eva Long has dedicated more than 20 years of service to the Marin Community College District as a trustee. This year she is recognized by the Community College League of California (League) alongside 10 other trustees for various California community colleges with the Fulfilling the Trust Award.
The award honors trustees who have served twenty years on a community college district board and acknowledges their service again every ten years thereafter.
“Dr. Long represents a life of dedication to public education and lifelong learning, to include 20 years as a trustee serving the Marin Community College District,” said Stuart Tanenberg, President of the Marin Community College District Board of Trustees. “Her focus on students of all ages is exemplary.”
She is founder and president of the Center for Longevity, Transition, and Renewal. Dr. Long’s area of expertise is life longevity and aging, and she is a national seminary presenter, researcher, trainer, and program and product developer. She is also president of Excellence Launch Associates, a management consulting business that conducts the governor’s school accountability management audits. She has worked as a teacher, superintendent, and UC Berkeley adjunct faculty.
Dr. Long generously contributes her time and expertise in education. She designed, developed, and conducted pro-bono a Mini-Medical School Comprehensive Evaluation, and then led College of Marin’s first Mini-Medical School in 2015 which has become a welcomed event ever since.
“She is always thoughtful, collaborative, perceptive and engaged,” Tanenberg continued. “It is my privilege to work with her on the Marin Community College District Board of Trustees.”
Dr. Long holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in art from San Francisco State University, as well as a master’s degree in educational administration – curriculum and supervision from Stanford University, and a doctorate from Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara.
