Yesterday, (May 15) at around 7:30 pm, Novato Police Dispatch received a call from a witness who reported a black Honda SUV had hit a parked Toyota pickup near Redwood Blvd at Cricklewood Drive.
The driver of that SUV fled the scene.
While investigating a hit-and-run collision, another community member reported a Honda parked in the Novato Fair Shopping Center, which looked like it had recently been in a collision. Officers located the damaged Honda and the driver. Officers conducted a DUI investigation and ultimately arrested the driver, April Soldavini, a 58-year-old Novato resident, for driving under the influence and hit and run. Soldavini was later booked in Marin County Jail.
We want to thank the community members who reported the collision and the damaged car in the shopping center. Their actions helped to protect our community, preventing further property damage and potential injury. Reporting unsafe drivers saves lives.
It’s never a good decision to get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs including medications that cause impairment. Call a sober friend, family member, or use a ride share to get yourself home when you’ve been drinking alcohol or using other substances that cause impairment.
Stay safe, Novato!
