Fairfax political signs defaced; town asks citizens to show respect for private property

October 1, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

As campaign season gets underway, the Town of Fairfax reminds citizens to respect campaign signs.

“Recently, we’ve received reports of campaign signs being stolen or defaced. Tampering with or removing signs without the owner’s permission is considered theft and is a crime under state law,” the Town government said in a press release, adding: “We encourage everyone to respect each other’s right to express their opinions through campaign signs, regardless of personal viewpoints. A diverse range of opinions is what makes our community vibrant and strong.”

The city asks citizens who witness signs being stolen, defaced, or tampered with to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at (415) 453-5330.
