Hamilton pool closed for the summer

June 25, 2020 by Marin Leave a Comment

The cities of Novato and San Rafael, who maintain and operate Novato’s Hamilton Pool through a Mutual Services Agreement, said today that they “have made the difficult decision to keep the Hamilton Pool closed for the Summer 2020 season.”

On June 5, Marin Health and Human Services (HHS) released updates to their current public health order which included new guidelines for outdoor swimming pools. Based on these new guidelines, City staff has determined that reopening the pool presents challenges related to social distancing and maintenance of high-touch surfaces. To protect the health and safety of the community, as well as due to limited staffing and budget constraints as a result of COVID-19, the pool will remain closed to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

The Hamilton Pool, located at 203 El Bonito in Novato, typically opens each summer from May through September. Additional information about the Hamilton Pool is available at novato.org/hamiltonpool.
