Help plan the US 101/I-580 Multi-Modal and Local Access Improvement Project

September 9, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

Dear Community Members,

The Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) and Caltrans invites you to participate in the upcoming scoping meeting for the US 101/I-580 Multi-Modal and Local Access Improvement Project. This project aims to reduce travel times between northbound US 101 and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and includes possible improvements along Bellam Boulevard such as potential roundabouts and improved traffic signalization.

At the meeting, TAM and the project team will present three proposed alternatives (including possible roundabouts) designed to improve traffic and connectivity in the project area. The meeting will include an informational presentation, followed by an open house session where you can learn more about the three alternatives, meet members of the project team, and provide valuable input.

Scoping Meeting Details
When: Tuesday, October 1st from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Where: Marin Health & Wellness Campus, 3240 Kerner Blvd, San Rafael, CA

Your participation is invaluable in shaping the future of our community’s transportation infrastructure. We encourage you to attend and share this invitation with friends, family, and colleagues who may be interested in contributing to the discussion.

Warm regards,
Marin 101-580 Project Team
Transportation Authority of Marin

About the US 101/I-580 Multi-Modal and Local Access Improvement Project
Currently, drivers who wish to access the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge (I-580) from northbound US 101 in Larkspur must either exit the freeway and travel on East Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Larkspur, or exit the freeway at Bellam Boulevard in San Rafael to access I-580 and the bridge entrance. This can result in congestion and traffic delays on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, Bellam Boulevard, and northbound US 101.

The US 101/I-580 Multi-Modal and Local Access Improvement Project aims to address congestion and enhance connectivity. The project will also improve traffic circulation, transit connections, and safety for bicycles and pedestrians. The project will include landscaping and streetscape beautification on Bellam Boulevard and will promote equity for all users and communities within the project area.
