Judith Anne (Jordan) Lister
April 8, 1940 – September 2, 2024
Judy Lister passed away peacefully on September 2nd at her home in Novato, California, surrounded by the love and affection of her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert (Bob) Lister, her three children, Doug, Stephanie, and Anne, and her seven cherished grandchildren: Wyatt, Piper, Stephen, Andrew, Allison, Jake, and Tyler.
Born Judith Anne Jordan on April 8th, 1940, in Marion, Ohio, to Ivan and Billie Jordan, Judy grew up with her brother, James Jordan. She attended Oleny Elementary, Edison Junior High School, and Green Camp High School before pursuing a nursing degree at Mansfield Nursing School. After her nursing career, Judy dedicated herself to volunteering, contributing to organizations such as Greenpeace, the American Heart Association, local thrift stores, and Soroptimist.
Judy had a passion for travel, enjoying trips with friends to Hawaii, Palm Desert, Lake Tahoe, and various tropical destinations. She was a fierce competitor on the tennis courts and at the card table, known for her late-game comebacks and infectious laughter as she walked away victorious.
Judy spent her life caring for animals, including her beloved pet dogs, horses, and birds, many of whom enjoyed her delicious home cooking. She also supported local wildlife, occasionally tossing a fast food burger into the woods behind her house “for the hawks.”
Throughout her life, Judy brought joy and laughter to those around her. She loved engaging in debates on any topic, often taking either side to provoke her sons and daughter-in-law. Her sense of humor was evident in all aspects of her life, including naming her mildly aggressive pet bird “Pecker”. Known to her grandkids as “Nana”, Judy showered them with attention, love, and the occasional ice cream sundae for breakfast.
Judy’s family and friends mourn her loss but are left with a lifetime of cherished memories. A celebration of life service will be scheduled by the family at a later date.
