Koda joins the Novato Police Department

February 6, 2025 by Marin Leave a Comment

News from the Novato Chamber of Commerce:

In 2024, the Novato Police Department K9 Foundation successfully raised over $25,000 through the sale of hats, t-shirts, and dog biscuits. The funds were generated at a dozen events, including the Novato Chamber Art and Wine Novato Festival of Art, Wine & Music, Woofstock, and Rock the Block.

Last year, the foundation purchased a 2.5-year-old German Shepherd named Koda for $16,000 and sold the dog to the city for $1, a practice that helps limit their liability. Additionally, 2024 marked the official retirement of K-9 Rookie after five years of dedicated service.

Looking ahead, the nonprofit aims to double its fundraising efforts in 2025, setting an ambitious goal of $50,000 while seeking increased support through donations.
