L.A. Riots: Violence is Violence

June 7, 2025 by Marin 2 Comments

Sherman R. Frederick/Properly Subversive

About 1,000 protesters-turned-rioters in Los Angeles surrounded ICE officers conducting righteous immigration enforcement actions. Officers were assaulted, tires slashed, buildings defaced, and property destroyed.

Late today, President Donald Trump ordered 2,000 National Guard members deployed to L.A.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom called mustering National Guard troops “inflammatory” and predicted it will make things worse. He’s got it all wrong.

What makes things worse are politicians who can’t muster the backbone to condemn violence when it takes place. Some “leaders” falsely call this “resistance”, such as New York Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Michelle Wu of Boston, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass who said “We are going to fight for all Angelenos, whether they have papers or not.”

ICE rightly says their rhetoric “villainized and demonized” officers.

We all know that Los Angeles and California as a whole are a mess when it comes to illegal immigration. Condoning violence like what took place in L.A. isn’t going to fix it. Instead, it points to how big this problem is for the Golden State.

Respect your opinion but believe there is more to the story here. How about speaking to the violence of the Trump administration that is ignoring our due process. Your opinion completely ignores the context of what is truly happening and the laws that are being ignored to protect our rights. Yes Sherman we will resist the rise of the this power grab of the Federal government to subvert the law. Please consider that the ICE officers feel demoralized for a reason – I am sure some part of their humanity is touched when they destroy families who have lived and contributed to our economy for years. Have you really been listening to the rhetoric of this administration in how they demoralize a huge swath of our population who have a legal right to be here. Please if you want to condone violence and demoralization of ICE officers at least be honest of the context and at least acknowledge the real violence being perpetuated by this administration. Completely disagree with your oversimplification of what went down in LA.

This is a good source below to understand the broader context of why there is so much anger and desperation from the protests. One can be against violence and destruction of property and have the broader understanding of why it is happening. I would also suggest stricter immigration laws can be enforced without violating the rule of law and resorting to authoritative overreach of the federal government.
