Larkspur man, 18, arrested for attempted murder of a Marin City man

August 16, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

In the early morning hours of Aug. 4, 2024, a Marin City man was shot in the back at close range while congregating with friends in the 200 block of Drake Ave. The critically injured victim was transported to Marin Medical Campus, where he was treated and stabilized. He has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover from his wounds at home.

After a thorough and exhaustive investigation, Sheriff’s detectives developed probable cause to arrest Anthony Cozart an 18-year-old man from Larkspur for the shooting. Detectives spent 10 days looking for Cozart, who had previously lived in Marin City, but moved recently to a new residence in Larkspur. Cozart was arrested on Aug. 14 after an alert deputy spotted him walking in the 200 block of Drake Ave in Marin City. Cozart was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for Attempted Murder and is being held in lieu of $500,000.00 bail.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to call the Marin County Sheriff’s Office at (415) 479-2311.
