Marin County Ties Up Labor Deals

August 21, 2025 by Marin Leave a Comment

With the approval of two additional labor agreements, the County of Marin has secured contracts with the majority of its represented employee groups for 2025-2028.

On August 19, the Board of Supervisors approved new multiyear agreements with the Marin County Firefighters’ Association and Teamsters Local 856 – Probation Workers Unit. The agreements include:

  • Increased cost-of-living allowances and adjusted salaries to bring classifications closer to the market median.
  • Enhanced benefits to support employees and their families, helping Marin remain a competitive employer in the North Bay.

The agreements, which follow others approved on June 24, July 8, and July 15, represent steady progress toward full completion of its labor contracts for Marin’s approximately 2,000 employees across 10 bargaining units.

“This is a major milestone for the County,” said County Executive Derek Johnson. “The progress we’ve made reflects strong collaboration and shared priorities across the organization. These contracts are a key part of Marin’s commitment to providing competitive compensation and a supportive workplace. Each agreement helps strengthen the foundation for the public services residents rely on every day.”

The County of Marin regularly negotiates labor agreements with employee unions to set salaries, benefits, and working conditions. Successor negotiations with the Marin Association of Public Employees (MAPE) will begin this fall, continuing progress toward long-term stability and fairness for the County workforce.
