San Rafael, CA – The Marin County Tax Collector’s Office has mailed 91,913 property tax bills to property owners for the fiscal year 2024-25, and the first payment is due November 1.
This year’s tax roll reflects a total of $1,473,111,869.14, marking a 4.01% increase compared to the previous year. This represents secured taxes, voter-approved general obligation bonds, water bonds and other special taxes.
The payment process is divided into two installments: the first installment must be paid on or before December 10, 2024, to avoid penalties, while the second installment is due February 1, 2025, and must be paid on or before April 10, 2025. Property owners also have the option to pay both installments together.
The Tax Collector’s secure online portal and telephone service are available to make property tax payments. Payments can be made on the County website or by phone at 1-800-985-7277. There are no service fees associated with electronic check (e-check) payments when using these services.
Property owners who have not received their tax bill by mid-October, particularly those who have recently acquired real estate in Marin, should contact the Tax Collector’s Office. It’s important to emphasize that not receiving a tax bill does not exempt taxpayers from their responsibility to make timely payments.
The Tax Collector’s Office is located at Suite 202 of the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, with office hours from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Questions related to property tax billing can be directed to the Tax Collector via email or by calling 415-473-6133.
