The Community and Economic Development Department is pleased to welcome a new associate planner to its Planning Division. Katie Nelson brings eight years of experience to Sausalito as a former building and wastewater technician, plans and permit coordinator, and city planner with the Town of Paradise in Butte County.
As an associate planner in Sausalito, Nelson will be responsible for processing and evaluating land use applications and permits, working with property owners and developers, and preparing reports for the Planning Commission and City Council.
During her time in Paradise, Nelson helped manage the town’s recovery and rebuilding process after the devastating 2018 Camp Fire.
Of her new position in Sausalito, she says, “I’m eager to expand my knowledge and show my commitment towards fostering vibrant, resilient communities.”
Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in German and geography from Humboldt State University. Outside of work, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her dog, Huckleberry.
