Those who require onsite services from the County of Marin should take note that most County offices will be closed on consecutive Wednesdays in recognition of upcoming holidays.
Offices at the Marin County Civic Center and other County facilities will be closed Wednesday, December 25, in recognition of Christmas, and Wednesday, January 1, to mark New Year’s Day.
For those who need to process timely documents related to the ownership of real estate for a year-end 2024 recording date, same-day recordings need to be presented and reviewed by Recorder’s staff prior to 3 p.m. during regular business hours. The Recorder’s office is in Suite 232 at the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. Documents that cannot be examined and approved for recording prior to the deadline will be accepted for recording in January or returned to the submitter. Recorder’s Office staff can be reached at (415) 473-6092.
Transactions at the County Clerk’s office (Suite 234) and the Assessor’s Office (Suite 208) may take place Tuesday, December 31, until 4 p.m. To allow for ample processing time, documents submitted to the County Clerk should be presented prior to 3:30 p.m. that day.
All 10 Marin County Free Library (MCFL) branches will be closed on the two Wednesdays, and all branches will resume regularly scheduled hours after the holidays. Some branches will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve; checkMCFL’s hours and locations webpage for the schedules.
Don’t forget that MCFL’s digital services are available 24/7. There’s more assistance on the MARINet mobile app and thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks available for downloading.
Although their administration offices will be closed, the Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department will be staffed throughout the holidays to ensure public safety and emergency services throughout Marin. Road crews and flood control crews from the Department of Public Works also will be ready to respond to infrastructure and emergency needs. In addition, the Department of Health and Human Services will continue to have on-call staff though the holidays for crisis and emergency response.
The County of Marin wishes you and your family a happy and safe holiday season!
