Sausalito’s iconic statue is back

July 5, 2024 by Marin 1 Comment

Artist Al Sybrian’s iconic sea lion sculpture made a triumphant return to its perch on Sausalito’s southern waterfront in the early morning of Wednesday, July 3.

The nearly 2,000 lbs. bronze sculpture had been on dry land since January 2023, when it was toppled by a winter storm.

The sea lion’s repair, restoration, and return by crane to its new concrete platform was made possible through the efforts of the Sausalito Foundation, City staff, area contractors, and local artisans and engineers.

The financial support of Sausalito residents and businesses was also essential to the project’s completion.
