Sausalito
Sept. 3 – 9, 2020
Bus To Heaven: A dead animal was placed in a produce box and left at the bus stop. Unfortunately, there is no bus service to heaven in Sausalito. If only …
Yelling Man: A “belligerent, yelling man” roamed the waterfront weirding people out. Cops checked him out and determined he had committed no crime. So the man continued on his yelling way.
SIP Snitches: A citizen called the cops about a store on Bridgeway that allegedly was allowing people in without masks. Police have checked the location multiple times and found no violations.
Took Phone: A screaming man took another man’s phone and walked away. Police rolled and returned the phone to the victim. He did not want to press charges.
Maskless Skaters: A citizen called the cops on a group of skateboarders on Calendonia Street. Police rolled and told the kids to put their masks on, which they did.
Pantless in Sausalito: A man who was “acting erratically” was seen swinging a cane on Spring Street. He then took his pants down and sat in the middle of the street. Police rolled and talked to him. He said he was just passing through, so they moved him along.
BLND Driver: A woman driver backed out on Bridgeway and hit a brick wall. She then took off in what one observer called “reckless.” Police report says she was a “BLND female drive” which we suspect is short for “blonde” not “blind.” But, you never know.
Mystery Boat: A citizen called police to say that a boat, for the second day in a row, docked in Sausalito and let people off. The boat plugged in and took a birth, which the caller suspected they were not entitled to. He contacted the people and board and they said “call the police and we’ll take care of them.”
Mop Man: A happy looking man danced his way down Bridgeway with a broom and a mop. A caller asked the police to check on him as that seemed odd. Police said the man was “just being himself.”
Novato
Multiple Arsons: On Sept. 7, at about 5 p.m., NPD officers were dispatched to assist the Novato Fire Protection District on the report of a tree on fire in the area of 1561 South Novato Blvd. While officers were responding, they came across a second fire in the creek area located on Diablo Avenue and Novato Boulevard. Officers were able to slow the spread of the fires using extinguishers from their patrol vehicles. While the Novato Fire Protection District was in the process of containing the fires at two locations, officers were conducting an area check and saw a subject who was actively lighting a third fire on Front Street. Officers were able to quickly detain the subject, who was later identified as John Davies, a 55-year-old homeless man. The Novato Fire District responded to the third fire and was able to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, no structures were damaged and no persons were injured as a result of these fires. Davies was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for suspicion of committing multiple acts of arson. Due to the nature of the offense, a bail enhancement of $100,000 was granted. It is important to stay vigilant when you see suspicious activity.
Mill Valley
Sept. 3 – 10, 2020
Oh, Deer: A homeowner on Molino Avenue called police because someone was periodically banging on the back wall of his house. Police checked it out and found that an adult doe fell down a steep embankment and landed on her back against the house. She kicked the house in vain attempts to right herself. Police were able to get the animal on its feet and, quick as a whistle, she was gone.
Loud Party: A loud party with numerous people was reported on Seaver Drive. When police arrived, the noise had stopped.
Burglary: Someone broke into the school on Blithedale Avenue and stole some iPads.
Garage Opener: A person on Upperhill Road reported that their vehicle was broken into and a garage door operer was taken.
Stuck Camper: A resident on Dorset Lane reported to police that a camper was parked in front of her house and partially blocking her driveway. She contacted the camper people and they said they ran out of gas, but the woman had her doubts as no one had attempted to walk to a gas station and get gas. Police became involved and saw to it that the camper moved along.
