Underage drinking parties

May 18, 2020 by Marin Leave a Comment

A message from the Central Marin Police:

Over the past two weeks, Central Marin Police have received reports of underage drinking with violations of the Public Health Order to shelter-in-place, one on May 1st in Corte Madera and one on May 15th in Larkspur. In each case, officers responded and found minors gathering on private property with alcohol and with people outside their immediate families. Citations were issued in both instances.

We would like to remind both parents and teens that the Social Host Ordinance is being enforced in every city, town, and unincorporated area of Marin County. The Social Host Ordinance holds the host responsible at any party or gathering where underage drinking takes place. The responsible host can be an adult or a minor. Central Marin Police have a zero tolerance policy for underage drinking and a Social Host Ordinance citation will be issued each time a violation occurs.

Please also remember that the current Public Health Order prohibits these gatherings. “All public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or living unit are prohibited, except for the limited purposes expressly permitted in this Order.”
