1,206 people stopped, 16 drivers cited and 1 driver arrested at Novato DUI checkpoint

On Friday Sept. 1, the Novato Police Department held a DUI checkpoint, resulting in 2 drivers arrested for DUI and 16 drivers cited.
The DUI checkpoint was held at Novato Boulevard at Los Alondras Court. Here are the details:

– 15 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license.

– 1,206 vehicles were screened.

– 1 person was arrested for other criminal charges.

– 1 driver was cited for knowingly allowing a suspended driver to operate a vehicle.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
