MarinscopeSan Anselmo became the latest town to jump on the bandwagon to ban new or expanded gas stations. A first reading passed last week and the final vote will take place at a future meeting. Petaluma was the first city to make the move. It did in 2022. Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Windsor and Cotati followed suit. In Marin, Novato did it last year and Fairfax did it recently. San Anselmo Mayor Steve Burdo said the ban is appropriate as California makes the transition to zero-admission cars by 2035: “I think the number of gas stations we have is adequate.”
