Marin Babe Ruth Registration for the 2024 Spring Season is now open. All players in Marin County born prior to Aug. 31, 2011, and on or after May 1, 2008, are eligible for Babe Ruth Baseball on regulation fields.
The League has made special arrangements for 12 year old players who have “aged out” from Little League in those gap months. They can have four years of Babe Ruth competition, not Junior League. Get the Registration details and register online at marinbaberuth.org. Fee for the season is just $380.
Tryouts for all new players will be Sunday, March 17, and practice begins the weekend of March 23/24. A full Regular Season of 16 games is planned, concluding June 20. The first game is May 11, so high school baseball players will not miss league games and there is ample time for summer vacations.
With a commitment to teaching and training, Marin Babe Ruth provides a high level of development and competition for players just up from Little League as well as for those continuing their careers in high school baseball.
Over the years, we have had players from Terra Linda, San Rafael, Marin Catholic, and Redwood High Schools as well as Novato High and San Marin High compete in the league. Many have gone on to earn All MCAL honors. Players on Marin Babe Ruth teams stay on their teams from year to year (no re-drafts each year as in Little League), and players develop relationships that lead to lasting friendships and spirited, fun competition.
The League is also committed to developing skills and experience for the young players. A special “Spring Training Program” is conducted from mid-March to early May, while players playing High School baseball are in their MCAL seasons. This is focused time on the younger players, and the players benefit from fundamentals drills and many reps. Players have the opportunity to adjust to playing on a regulation field while they learn the game. Or, for some, to work on a specific position skill, or learn a new position to help them on their way to high school baseball.
There is no need to lose a season’s experience on the “big field” by playing 50/70 or Junior League. Marin Babe Ruth Spring Training is for learning. This can be especially important to 12-year-olds “aged out” by Little League. Regular Season competition begins in May, when high school players rejoin their Babe Ruth teams.
League officials said, “Babe Ruth baseball is the clear alternative to so-called ‘travel teams’ by offering skill development while competing with and against high school players as well as the opportunity to develop leadership skills working with younger players. Well worth the $380 for a season of fun. All games are played in Novato.”
