Beloved Novato K9 officer dies

October 9, 2025 by Marin Leave a Comment

The Novato Police Department is sad to announce the passing of retired police K9 Koa. Koa worked along side his handler, Sgt Sean Sinnott, from December 2014 until Koa’s retirement in November of 2019. During his time as a police K9, Koa loved spending time with his fellow officers, the community, and above all loved going to work each day. He enjoyed his extended retirement immensely, and fully transitioned into becoming a family pet.

Koa passed away peacefully at the age of 13 in the comfort of his former handler on Tuesday 10/7. He will be sorely missed by his family, NPD family, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
