Members of a group calling itself the “Friends of Rush Creek” are planning to protest on Friday in front of a fundraiser for Marin County Board of Supervisor Eric Lucan.
Lucan is holding a $75-per-plate birthday fundraiser for himself at 5400 Hanna Ranch Road from 5-6 p.m. Friday, May 12.
The Friends of Rush Creek are protesting the 2-mile long homeless encampment they say Marin County has allowed to grow along Binford Road.
“Despite repeated vehicle fires, arrests and at least one tragic drug overdose death, Mr. Lucan and his fellow Supervisors have failed to address the humanitarian and ecological disaster that is Binford Road,” the group said in a press release announcing the scheduled protest.
“We are very sympathetic to the plight of the homeless, but they must be moved away from the fragile wetlands. Our public official have refused to entertain that idea and it’s disgusting when you think about the garbage found in the water, the human feces, fentanyl and even adult diapers,” said Toni Shroyer, a local activist and member of the new group. Shroyer added “we have some concrete solutions to resolve this impasse, but Eric Lucan and other officials refuse to listen.”
The protestors want Marin County to relocate the occupants and the 100 plus vehicles to a site closer to County services and away from a designated wetlands open space.
All of a sudden these climate change deniers become environmentalists! How sweet.
Don’t be a stupid political tribalist. Many of the protesters used to enjoy the open space trails along the preserve. Now the wetlands are being trashed by grifters taking advantage of the compassion of Marinites that want to help the real homeless.
Why doesnt Ms Toni Shroyer and her MAGA Republicans bring the press along and show us where the faeces ; garbage ; fentanyl. She is talking about ??? Sure there are some areas that need cleanup but she wants to exxagerrate the crisis because she wants to keep Marin a whites only neighbrhood. There is no damage being done to the wetland. Thats one of the many lies she is making up ! On the same day of the protest Binford residents she so despises will hold a picket in front of her house on the same day .
Why don’t you get off your butt to visit the preserve before demonstrating your ignorance of how they’ve trashed it.
