A citizen complaint that alleged the Ross Valley School District board appointed a committee to decide the fate of the Fairfax-San Anselmo Children’s Center without disclosing the names of those about to be appointed was a violation of the Brown Act.
The allegation, which the district denies, has caused a delay in the committee holding its first meeting. The first meeting is now scheduled for January.
On Dec. 14, the board unanimously voted to appoint the committee. But the names of the actual committee members were never disclosed to the public.
One member of the public said the board may not have violated the Brown Act, but the school board acted without appropriate transparency.
