Car knocks the life out of a pedestrian in San Rafael; driver stayed on scene, alcohol not involved

UPDATE: The decedent has been positively identified as: Tyrell Ramone FINLEY, a 36-year-old male from San Rafael.

On Jan. 13, SRPD Officers and SRFD Firefighters and Paramedics responded to the intersection of Second Street and A Street for a vehicle/pedestrian collision.  Upon arrival, first responders found a male pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries.  The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital, where he died.  The intersection of Second Street and A Street was closed for 9 hours during the preliminary investigation.  The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

MILL VALLEY

Student Threats: A student in Mill Valley received violent text messages over the MLK long weekend. The student’s mother reported the threats to police and the school for assessment.

Worried: A concerned citizen called police about two people with a baby sitting at the bus stop on Sunnyside Avenue. The man was much older than the woman and with the weather setting in, the caller said, the police should conduct a welfare check. Service provided. 

MARIN COUNTY SHERIFF

Too Loud: Deputies were called to Marin City about people playing loud Hispanic music in the upstairs apartment on Cole Drive. Service provided.

Cows Out: On Jan. 15, two cows and a bull escaped their pen on Glen Road in Novato. Owners notified. 

Stop Duane: A man walked by a residence on Eureka Street in Marin City and taunted a woman’s dogs. He said his name was Duane. Dogs were not happy and neither was their owner who called police to ask what she could do to stop Duane in the future. Service provided.

Homeless: A homeless woman trespassed on land in Santa Venetia. She went through the garbage and took clothes from another residence. Police searched the woman and moved her along.

Abatement: An abandoned trailer and a boat were towed from Bel Marin Keys.
