The decomposed body of a man found floating in the bay on Aug. 29 has been formally identified as Yohanes Stefanos Kidane, 22, of San Jose. He was an engineer at Netflix.
The Marin coroner made the announcement on Sept. 6.
The Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene by the California Highway Patrol on Aug. 29 when a boater reported to the Coast Guard of seeing a body in the water.
Kidane’s body lifeless body was recovered from the water. The body exhibited signs of advanced decomposition, prolonged exposure to the aquatic environment and appreciable depredation.
On Friday Sept. 01, a forensic postmortem examination was completed and determined the cause of death to be from blunt impact injuries with drowning as a significant contributing condition. The mode of death was determined to be suicide.
