Dear editor,
I am horrified at the instant outpouring of fanatic anti-Russian hatred following incompletely substantiated claims by undisclosed government sources that Russia and President Putin are once again responsible for acting against the United States — this time through bounty payments to the Taliban in Afghanistan for killing U.S. soldiers fighting there.
It seems that there is no end to the extremes that those in power in the United States are willing to go to defeat and humiliate the Russians in the endless Cold-War that has continued and escalated between our two nations for over a century.
If President Trump is foolish to discount the danger from the deadly coronavirus, how much more foolish are the thousands of people in the United States who seem so hopelessly obsessed with gaining a permanent victory over the former Soviet Union that they are willing to totally ignore the peril of a nightmarish nuclear confrontation between our chronically competing nations?
Where is the voice of sanity and love of all life that should be speaking out and most strongly protesting this reckless flirtation with nuclear war?
Have those in power in this country become so bored and fed-up with their own lives that they care nothing for protecting humanity from the consequences of this endless and pointless dance of death between the world’s most dangerously armed nations?
