Dominican women’s golf bested its first-round effort with 17-over 305 to finish in third place at the Bay Area Invitational at Monarch Bay Golf Club on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Point Loma won the invitational with an 18 over par with Biola in second at 26 over par after 36-holes. Dominican’s final score for the tournament was 36 over par, 33 strokes ahead of fourth-place Academy of Art.

The Penguins placed three golfers in the top-10 with sophomore Claire Shubin and freshmen Lauren Parayno and Angelica Antonio all tying for seventh at 8 over par. Antonio led the way in the final round with an even-par 72. Shubin was not far behind shooting a final round of 3-over 75 with two birdies on the day. Parayno finished the day at 5 over but was fantastic on the back nine shooting even par.

Senior Emily Lichty tied for 14th on the individual leaderboard at 12 over par, while sophomore Ashley Pan was tied for 20th at 19 over in her first tournament of the season. Freshman Phoebe Sundberg rounded out the team with a 24 over par to tie for 27th.
