During the month of May, detectives from the Marin County Specialized Investigative Unit said the unit developed probable cause to believe Jeffrey Grove was actively selling crystal methamphetamine from his tent in an encampment near the San Rafael Creek on Lincoln Avenue, in San Rafael.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Grove and his tent and conducted surveillance on the area.
While conducting surveillance, detectives observed suspected drug transactions occurring at the doorway of Grove’s tent.
With the assistance of San Rafael PD, Grove and several others were detained. Detectives located seven ounces of crystal methamphetamine in Grove’s tent, with a current estimated street value of approximately $4,000. Grove was arrested for possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purposes of sales along with the sale of crystal methamphetamine, both of which are felony charges.
Two other individuals were arrested for misdemeanor possession of crystal methamphetamine and a warrant related to credit card fraud. One suspect received a citation and was released in the field while Grove and the individual with the warrant were booked at Marin County Jail.
