DUI checkpoint in Novato nets one arrest and 21 citations

On Friday Aug. 30, 1 person was arrested for DUI. The checkpoint was held near the 1600 block of Novato Blvd. 1306 vehicles came through the checkpoint, with 67 directed to the secondary screening area.

– 1 DUI arrest

– 16 cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed

– 5 with a suspended/revoked license

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the (NHTSA) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
