Letter to the Editor: Election 2020 at 90% turnout

December 12, 2020 by Marin Leave a Comment

Dear editor,

The League of Women Voters of Marin County would like to acknowledge the dedication and efforts of everyone involved in powering the November 3, 2020 election. Despite the extraordinary challenges raised by COVID-19, Marin County had a 90% voter turnout rate! This is just shy of the historic record of 91% in 2008 and is a testament to the resolve of our Elections Department to run a safe, secure and accessible election and the resolve of voters to make their voices heard.

Thank you to the many people who contributed to the election’s success: our Registrar of Voters, full-time and extra-hire elections staff, poll workers, community groups, postal workers and, of course, the voters. Elections give us an opportunity to shape our democracy with our vote. The League celebrates our community and our democracy during these times of immense challenge.

Ann Wakeley

President
