Embezzler of Marin charity sent to prison

February 23, 2022 by Marin Leave a Comment

LaShante Ticarra Boyd of Oakland was sent to prison for embezzling $650,000 from Center Point, a Marin County addiction treatment organization. She was put away for 3 years and 4 months, with the possibility of early release.

The Independent Journal newspaper reported that California Attorney General Rob Bonta made the announcement last week and condemned Boyd’s actions.

“When you steal from a nonprofit, you are really stealing from the individuals and families who rely on that organization’s services,” Bonta said. “Using your position as an employee of an organization to embezzle funds meant to assist vulnerable people in your community is an abuse of power, and those who commit these offenses must be held accountable.”
