Fairfax town leaders listen to rent control complaints

The Fairfax Town Council listened to about two hours of debate about the fairness of the town’s new rent control and just-cause-for-eviction laws – most of it critical of the laws. 

One resident called the laws “insane” and unfair to homeowners trying to make a little extra cash in retirement by renting out ADUs. 

A spokesman for the Marin Democratic Socialists of America, a group advocating for rent control, said housing is not an “investment vehicle” but a “human right.”
