Gun control drive: Gavin Newsom takes his hipster rhetoric on the road: ‘I got four damn kids, dude’

After a political lifetime of trying to do an end-run around the U.S. Constitution’s 2nd Amendment on the right to bear arms, Gov. Gavin Newsom has thrown in the towel.

California has the strictest gun control rules in the nation, but it’s not making a dent in gun violence. So, the governor – who wants to be president one day – (maybe in 2024)  said he will now lead a crusade for a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

In his hipster style, the governor told Politico:

“I got four damn kids, dude, I can’t take it anymore…. It’s absolute insanity. And the biggest and most insane thing we can do is the same old BS and just point fingers. So, let’s give this a shot.”

His proposal: An amendment that would raise the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21, mandate universal background checks, institute a “reasonable” waiting period for gun purchases and ban civilians from buying assault weapons.

After a Constitutional Convention, thirty-eight states would eventually have to sign off on the Amendment.

The first step should be the easiest. The governor must get it through the California Legislature. CalMatters reports that fellow Democrats will shepherd the idea through public safety committees. Assemblyman Reggie Jones-Sawyer of Los Angeles will take the point on that, calling the governor’s effort “the most comprehensive way we can make a big, huge impact on mass shootings here in America.”

Newsom made his announcement to national news outlets, leading some to call it an ambitious effort to get into the limelight should something befall President Joe Biden’s re-election bid.

In a statement issued to the press, GOP Assembly leader James Gallagher of Chico said Newsom’s big idea is a “poorly thought out, attention-seeking stunt from a governor desperate to distract from his ever-growing record of failure.”

Knob Newsom is at it again. His tyrannical ways are exactly the reason we have the second amendment. For example he halted the right to peaceably assemble which is a first amendment right.

Not enough gun violence for you? Want more? Shoot yourself then!

This is the same thing we already have in California. Last I heard all of the criminals who use firearms in their work didn’t wait 10 days, have a background check or had to be 21 if they weren’t already. Their sources do not have to have a FFL or pay for a license to sell.
Yes again we folks who abide by the rules of the land must be set up on by those who are power hungry.
