I love my funky, artsy, musical Fairfax

Lynnette Shaw/Listen Up

I am excited and proud to be part of the re-launch of the Ross Valley Reporter. Fairfax has always been a cannabis loving town which I discovered when I moved here in 1984. I have enjoyed tons of public support in my crusade to legalize marijuana and to stop the discrimination against cannabis users in general.

Working as a paralegal for the defense of marijuana “crimes” I helped free hundreds of victims of excesses of the drug war. I have liberated people from jail, stopped extreme punishments for petty things such as possession of two joints when a patient was dying from AIDS, and saved  hundreds of Marin residents from cruel and unusual punishment stemming from the prejudicial and useless drug war edicts that harmed our society and spread lies everywhere.

Pot is not the enemy. Ignorance and discrimination is all the drug war promoted.

Voting Yes to legalize recreational pot in 2016 freed 6,978 marijuana prisoners in California. At $100 tax dollars per day per prisoner, you do the math. Did the sky fall when we legalized it?

NO, not at all.

Fentanyl is killing our people, in particular the youth, all over Marin.

When our youth discovered that the drug warriors continue to lie about pot, they stopped listening about the dangers of any other drug. No one in all human history has ever died from the use of marijuana. It is easy to stop using it. Most people stop using it on their own after a while.

Patients are definitely helped by the use of cannabis. Marijuana use discourages the use of harder drugs, since anguish and pain is eased up and it is not necessary to find something stronger. The lies and prejudice against cannabis has got to stop in order to get people to listen to the truth about the deadly use of fentanyl. Period.

I have fought long and hard to stop the discrimination over cannabis. We invented the first license to sell pot in all the world right here in Fairfax. I was sued by President Bill Clinton and spent 19 years in Federal Court, and prevailed for the right to have a license to sell pot. I was chased by Federal agents for years, but I would not cooperate. Winning my case with my attorney Greg Anton, Esq., secured the right to have a dispensary nationwide.

Yay Fairfax!

I am proud of what our Town in the past has accomplished. Nowadays, I am not so proud of what is happening here. I hope to see a better day for Fairfaxians, and will continue to stand up for what is right and to expose what is wrong in our little, beloved funky artist and musicians Town.

I love Fairfax! Plus, I love the fact that the Ross Valley Reporter is back!
