His attorney wanted the judge to go lightly in sentencing former Novato High School student Jan Carlos Martinez Henriquez. He was young and he came from a “gang infested” barrio in Central America.

Judge Kelly Simmons had none of it. She rejected that plea and sentenced Henriquez to life in prison without the possibility of parole for murder and a consecutive term of 40 years to life for attempted murder.

Henriquez was involved in one of the most shocking crimes in Novato’s history. See full story in the July 7 Novato Advance.
