November 2, 2021 by Marin 1 Comment

Novato Advance

The Federal Court has mandated that all homeless in Lee Gerner Park be kept in 6-foot-walled enclosure. And, residents have a new code of conduct that they must adhere to or risk eviction.

In the recent agreement on homeless camping in Lee Gerner Park, the federal court established a code of conduct for those allowed to camp there until a lawsuit on the matter is adjudicated.

Campers must adhere to this code:

COVID

COVID protocols must be followed, including. masks being worn outside of tents, residents maintaining 6-feet physical distance from those not part of their household, no urinating or defecating in the park, no social visits from those not living in the pen

Park Rules

All residents in the pen must adhere to park rules and regulations, including no smoking, no open fires, no littering, no weapons, no fireworks, lights out and no noise after 10 p.m. and before 6 a.m.

Bad Behavior

Aggressive and disorderly behavior is strictly prohibited. This includes the use of profanity around children, inappropriate sexual comments, racial slurs, vandalism, fencing, lawn bowling, and damage to trees and flowers.

Accumulation

All possessions of residents must remain inside the pen. Only one bike per resident is allowed and all encampments must remain tidy with zero tolerance for needles, trash and human or animal waste.
