On Monday afternoon, Oct. 30, at about 4:30 p.m. Mill Valley police officers were dispatched to the Mill Valley Middle School (425 Sycamore Ave), for a report of a person loitering on campus.
During our investigation it was determined the person entered the girl’s bathroom and briefly conversed with students who were using the facility. Officers contacted a person in a nearby area. The person was subsequently arrested, cited and released for trespassing after being removed from the area.
Later that evening, a parent called the Mill Valley Police Department and provided detail not previously reported.
He had entered the restroom, conversed with the girls, and then exposed his penis and masturbated. Police were told the suspect blocked the door once in the restroom, causing the victims to feel imprisoned in the restroom.
The next day, the man believed to be involved was detained in Tiburon and subsequently arrested by Mill Valley officers.
Arrested was Derrell Bland, 33, who does not have a listed address.
Bland was jailed on a raft of charges, including trespassing, indecent exposure, felony annoy/molest of a child under the age of 18 and false imprisonment.
