San Rafael
Dui Checkpoint: Two people were arrested for DUI, one person was arrested and released for driving on a suspended license, and twelve people were issued citations for driving without a license while conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, July 2. The checkpoint was held in San Rafael on Lincoln Avenue at the intersection with Grand Avenue from 6 to 11:30 p.m.
Over 650 vehicles passed through the checkpoint resulting in 43 vehicles being contacted. Of the 43 vehicles that were stopped, two resulted in DUI arrests. One of the DUI arrests was of a drug related nature where the driver admitted to using fentanyl and methamphetamine. One additional arrest was of a person who was found knowingly driving on a suspended license. That person was arrested and released with a citation.
The San Rafael Police Department is committed to keeping the public safe when they are traveling.
SRPD will hold another DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint close to the Labor Day holiday.
Sausalito
July 8 -13, 2021
Drunk In Sausalito: A man described as “overweight and no shirt” (shouldn’t that be a crime?) was reported yelling and doing other drunk things on Harbor Drive. Police rolled and talk to Mr. Shirtless. They secured his vehicle and walked him home.
Anchor-Out: Smoke was seen coming below deck of a non-functioning sailboard. Three people were aboard and the smoke stopped.
Beatings: A person who is possibly one taco short of a combination plate called police about being threatened with beatings. Police went to her, she was very uncooperative, and she walked away.
Shots Heard: People heard very loud gunshots or an explosion on July 8. Police were notified and they checked Angel Island to see if they know of anything. Source undetermined.
Landlord: A renter called police because the landlord set up cameras that look into the residence.
Camera Stalker: A man has harassed a citizen by on a number of occasions shooting pictures of his car. He has also brandished a knife. Police told the citizen to not approach the stalker.
Disrupter: A ceremony on Bridgeway was distrumped by a homeless man in a clown hat and a Giants shirt. Police rolled.
Poop Smear: A man walking a large poodle on Bulkley Avenue picked up his dog’s poop and smeared it on a nearby car. Pretty sure that doesn’t qualify as picking up after your animal.
Changed The Locks: A woman called police because her boyfriend changed the codes to the locks at their home and she has no way to get in and get her stuff. Police told her that was a court thing, not a police thing.
Hot Dogs: In this reporting period, police responded to several calls about dogs being left in hot cars. Don’t do it. Please.
Butt Man: People with children in the area of the bus stop on Bridgeway reported a homeless man sleeping in the bushes. His bare butt was visible. Police checked it out (not the butt, the homeless man sleeping in the bushes.)
Sleeper: A homeless man slept in the doorway at 10 Liberty Way. He was “incoherent and then got belligerent” with people trying to clear the doorway and help.
Mill Valley
July 8 – 13, 2021
Show of Colors: A gaggle of kids rode skateboards on Camino Alto. Police gave them a “show of colors” just to let them know they were watching.
Garage Door: A garage door was pried open on Miller Avenue. Nothing taken. Checking cameras in the area.
Vandalism: A person’s back door was ripped off and thrown on the ground. It happened on Molino Avenue on July 13.
Smash ‘n Grab: A car window was smashed and contents inside grabbed at the Redwood Highway Frontage.
