Marin 911: Hell no I’m not putting a leash on my dog!

On Oct. 15 the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and The National Parks Service got word of a surprise birthday party for a 9 year old aspiring to be a police officer when he grows up. Deputies and Park Rangers responded to the party to help with the celebration, above. On social media the officers said: “Happy birthday. We look forward to the possibility of working with you one day.”

SAUSALITO

Leash Up: A man on Harrison walked his dog off leash. A citizen confronted him and told him that was against the law. The dog walker told the citizen “Hell No!,” he’s been walking his dog off lease for 20 years and there’s no way on gawd’s green Earth he’s starting now. 

Cat In Tree: A dog chased a cat up a tree on West Court. Humane Society called.

Harassment: A homeowner called the cops when a neighbor on Stanford Way left notes on the door threatening to take the dog if it didn’t stop barking. Only problem is, her dog doesn’t bark. It’s another dog in the neighborhood.

Gun: A resident said that on Oct. 12 a person in an SUV drove by his mailbox on Wray Avenue  and looked like he was going to take the mail. When the man opened the front door, the would-be thief drove off brandishing a pistol. 

Yeller: A man stood outside of a sushi restaurant and yelled bad things at people. Police moved him along. 

Dog Bites: A man was reportedly bitten by his neighbor’s dog at Gate 5 Road on Oct. 11. Police are investigating.

Homeless Dispute: A woman is reportedly posting personal information online about another anchor-out in a dispute following the Homeless Union settlement with the City of Sausalito. Advice given. 

Suspicious Fellow: An odd-looking fellow with a t-shirt wrapped around his face was reported peering into police cars outside the station on Caledonia Street on Oct. 10. Police moved him along.

Mental: A tall skinny homeless man dressed like Johnny Cash – all in black – stood in the roadway at Bridgeway and Princess. He seemed dazed and confused, possibly mental. Police asked him to please stay on the sidewalk.

Stealing Power: A homeless man in a car was stealing power from a building on Litho Street. 

Homeless Camper: A homeless man slept in front of a car parked on Bridgeway. Man was escorted off the property and he left on foot into the community.

Car Burglary: A car parked on Turney Street had its window smashed on Oct. 9. Rental car. 

SHHHH: A homeless patron of the library played his muscat at a rock concert volume. He was asked to leave and was suspended from the library for a few days.

Threat: Two neighbors got into it over one of them putting out an ultrasonic noise to keep the deer away. The altercation is on video. Police are reviewing.

Sinking: A sailboard docked began taking on water. Harbormaster notified. 

Homeless Camper: A private property owner on Princess Street had to “run off” a homeless man trying to set up camp on private property. Police talked to the man and told him not to go on private property anymore.

Dumpster Sleeper: A man sleeping near a dumpster on Turney Street was contacted by police and moved along.

Public Urinator: A man with fuzzy red hair was reported to have urinated on a building on Princess Street. Gone when police arrived.

Unscrewer: A homeless man wearing a Grateful Dead sweatshirt unscrewed light bulbs and turned on faucets in a courtyard on Bridgeway. He blurted odd comments and people around him suspected he was one taco short of a combination plate. Police caught up to him and told him not to return to the property.

Welfare Check: A man stumbled along Swedes Beach, periodically walking into the water with his clothes on. Police conducted a welfare check. He said he didn’t need anything.

Leaf Blower: An alert citizen reported hearing a gas-powered leaf blower on Filbert Avenue. The culprit escaped. Damage to the environment unknown.

Yeller: A homeless man sat in front of a store on Bridgeway yelling obscenities at passersby. Gone when police arrived.

Dock Pee: A homeless old man was seen urinating off the dock on Bridgeway. Police talked to him and told him to use the facilities. 

Door Kicker: A homeless person – not one of the “regulars” from the park – kicked the doors and windows of City Hall. Police contacted the person and said “stop it!” 

Passing Through: A suspicious character walked around town dazed and confused, citizens said. Police talked to him. He said he was just “passing through” and needed to help.

Drunk: A woman three sheets to the wind tried to get in her car and drive off. Citizens stopped her and called the police. Sausalito’s finest handled the situation.

Mill Valley Police Chief Rick Navarro administered the oath of office and swore in Police Trainee Kaitlyn Crowe, who comes to the force after four years at the San Diego Sheriff’s Department. She will be attending the police academy in January. 

MILL VALLEY

Mental: A resident on Shelley Drive contacted the police on Oct. 20 about a neighbor who erupts in racial slurs. Possibly a mental health issue. Police advised. 

Elder Abuse: Police were contacted by a concerned resident about possible elder abuse by a woman’s daughter. A report was filed.

Coffee Weapon: A security guard and a” customer” of a store on Camino Alto got into it on Oct. 24. The “customer” was stealing stuff. The “customer” broke free and wandered the store threatening to throw hot coffee on people. Police arrived and restored order. The security guard decided to not press charges. The “customer” was escorted out.

Suspicious: A citizen thought he heard a “chainsaw or leaf blower” and called police. Mill Valley’s finest responded, checked a nearby construction site, and found nothing.

Plant Killer: A resident on Robertson TE called police because while she was away her neighbor cut down Oleanders in an easement area, as well as trees and other bushes. Police told her it was a civil issue.

Bad Day: A man lost his keys in the Miller Avenue area. They were found in the urinal in a nearby bar. Then, his dog ran away and he became very “verbal” with all around him.
