Marin 911: Hit-and-run driver in Fairfax narrowly misses dog walker, but kills the dog

Editor’s Note: Yes, there are public safety issues in bucolic Marin County. These are just a few of the latest gleaned from cop logs by the journalists at Marin Local News.

FAIRFAX

Hit & Run: A man walking his dog on March 14 said he crossed Bolinas Road when a grey Jeep tried to run him down. He was able to jump out of the way, but his dog was hit and killed. Police on the lookout for the dog killer.

Quiet Please: A resident of Sherwood Oaks Apartment called police on a group of people talking loudly outside. Service provided.

Warrant: A man with an outstanding warrant was arrested on March 11 in Downtown Fairfax and taken to jail. 

Dead Body: Police responded to Charro Way on March 11 to a 78-year-old woman who had died. Service provided. 

Mail Dump: Good Earth called the cops about some illegal dumping on their property. One of the bags dumped contained mail from Novato. Service provided.

Check Scam: A woman who owns an art gallery in Sausalito received a check in the mail for $19,000 for two works of art for which the sales price was to be $10,000. They asked her to wire back the difference. She thought it was weird and the police and the banks agreed. Service provided. 

Beeping: A business on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard discovered a garbage bag on the property and it was “beeping.” Afraid to open. Police called. Service provided.’

Happy Campers: People living near the homeless encampment on Bolinas Road complained to police about the loud music coming from the encampment. Police visited the happy campers. Service provided. 

Drunk: A man lay in the parking lot of the Java Hut so drunk that standing was difficult. Police arrived and took him to jail.

Vandalism: A three-sheets-to-the-wind man entered Mas Masa, yelled at patrons and broke several glasses before stumbling his sorry-butt out into the street. Police service provided.

Domestic Violence: Medical personnel reported a possible domestic violence case. A subject was arrested and taken to jail. 

MILL VALLEY

Suspicious Package: A large package was found on the lawn of a residence on Azalea Drive. Police responded. The box contained drain pumps. UPS called to pick up the package and deliver it to the correct address. 

Threat: A homeless man threatened a worker at a gas station on Ashford Avenue. Employee called the police to report the threat. He said the guy appears to be one taco short of a combination plate, but needed police to be aware just in case. Service provided.
