Knifepoint Robbery: On Friday, Aug. 19, Novato Police Officers responded to the area of Leese Lane at Jeffrey Court at about 10 p.m. A report of a robbery at knife point had been made. The victim was walking on Leese Lane when he saw three male teenagers hiding at a nearby residence. The suspects walked up to the victim, grabbed his shirt, while one was holding a knife, and took the backpack from him.
The suspects were described as three male teenagers wearing hoodies, who rode off on electric scooters after robbing the child at knife point. The boys took the victim’s school backpack, which contained a school laptop and various personal items. One of the officers located three teens nearby matching the description of the suspects.
After speaking with them, two of the boys were detained. The third one attempted to ride away from the officer on his scooter entering Pioneer Park, where he unintentionally arrived at another officer’s location prior to being detained.
Investigation determined that all three suspects conspired to rob the victim. One physically committed the robbery at knife point, while the other two teens reportedly stood by and watched. The backpack containing the laptop was recovered in the area and returned, while the knife was booked as evidence. The victim was not injured during the incident.
The identities of the juveniles will not be released due to their age. The individual who committed the robbery was brought to Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery and conspiracy. The other two were cited for Conspiracy, Accessory to Robbery and Resisting a Peace Officer.
