Sombrero Man: A vagabond caused some concern with citizens when he was seen stumbling around town mumbling to himself and generally weirding out people in his path. He wore a grey hoodie, white pants and a sombrero. Police attempted to talk to Sombrero Man, but he kept walking away and saying he didn’t want to talk.
Crazy Talk: A report of a woman talking to herself and swearing loudly for 15 minutes was reported on Montford Avenue. Turned out to be a resident on Linden Lane having a loud phone conversation. Police advised her of the complaint and asked to keep it down.
Argument: A disturbance brought police to a store on Miller Avenue and a woman who said she went to the store to buy juice and in the process got into an animated argument WITH HERSELF. She’s fine now and told officers she will be drinking her juice.
Power Lines: A delivery truck on April 29 clipped some trees on Manor Drive and brought down a power line.
Party: A group of kids were reported gathering in the park on Ryan Avenue, drinking beer (reportedly), and playing loud music. Police checked it out and advised the group of the complaints.
Sleeper: A vagabond was reported sleeping at a house under construction. Police moved the man along.
Running Child: A walker reported to police a child running unaccompanied on Pixie Trail. Police walked the trail and talked to other walkers but could not locate the child.
Smell of Smoke: After a citizen smelled smoke on Marsh Drive, police checked it out. A faint smell of smoke was detected. Area searched. But, no sign of fire.
Sleeper: A hobo was found sleeping at the bus stop on Lomita Drive. Police moved the man along.
Mail Theft: Mail boxes on Birch Street and Molino Avenue were broken into and mail stolen. About 25-30 mailboxes involved.
Mom-Daughter: A citizen called the police because she had a horrible argument with her daughter. Police educated the woman on what is a proper 911 call.
Sausalito
May 4 – 6, 2021
Shower: A man wanted to take a mobile shower at city facilities called the police saying he was being denied access and he wanted the city manager to respond. Dispatcher said an officer would respond, at which time the caller became unresponsive.
Egging Cars: Eight boys and one girl were reported pelting cars with eggs on Litho Street. Caller said they were about 12 years old.
Beggar: A man in a white van wearing a “grungy” button up shirt, keeps showing up at a gas station on Bridgeway begging for gas. Video of the man doing his begging thing was provided to police.
Marin County Sheriff
Dead In Car: The man found dead in a car has been identified as Wilmer Gonzalez Velasquez, 23, of San Rafael. He was found in a car in San Rafael. He appeared to have been shot. When police arrived, no resuscitative aid was necessary. The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the San Rafael Police Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office – Coroner Division.
