Marin 911: Runaway mom heads for the hills

August 3, 2022 by Marin Leave a Comment

Yogi’s Boo Boo: Yogi the French Bulldog decided to take himself on a walk recently, unbeknownst to his “owners.” When Yogi was discovered missing the SRPD was called. Officers later found him wandering around and were able to coax him into a patrol where they gave Yogi water and returned him to his home. Kudos to Sgt. Delzell, Officer Heinlein, and Officer Clary for making sure Yogi was safe!

Runaway Mom: At a family dinner an argument ensued and the mother “ran off” and had not been seen for two hours. She “took a right onto Main from Second Street and ran toward the hills.” After a search she was found and left the scene with her husband.

Touchy: A homeless man went around cars at a bagel shop on Bridgeway touching the license plates. Nervous bagel eaters called the police about. They examined the situation, which admittedly was odd, but found no Sausalito crime had been committed. But they told the plate-toucher to move along.

Yeller: A homeless man stood in front of City Hall and yelled “I’m going to kill you.” This man yells this kind of stuff every day, according to the cop log.

Shots Heard: People near Marinship Park called police because they thought they heard shots being fired. Turned out to be a person snapping a bullwhip.

Mental Crisis: A man wandered into a garage and appeared to be having a mental crisis of some sort. He was talking to himself aggressively, weirding people within earshot. Police called.

Briefcase Man: Local shopkeepers reported a “local drug user” sitting on the mermaid on Bridgeway. He wore a gardening glove on his right hand and carried a briefcase. He scared passersby and tourists alike. Police caught up to Briefcase Man. He was not high on drugs and cooperative with officers.

Homeless: A homeless man carrying a sleeping bag wandered around town and was called in multiple times by citizens worried about his care. The subject is fine, just a wanderer.

Homeless II: A homeless man harassed workers at a store on Second Street, then wandered off where he “played chicken” with cars.

Suitcase: A suitcase was abandoned in front of a house on Buchanan Drive. Police came and took it away.

Malfunction: The traffic light at Bridgeway and Coloma malfunctioned on July 23, causing a big backup of traffic.

Extra Patrol: Police provided extra patrol on July 26 at the Marinship homeless encampment.

Stolen Mail: The mailboxes on Gordon Street were reported broken into on July 25. Mail was taken.

Stolen Mail: The mailboxes on Nevada Street were reported broken into on July 25. Mail was taken.

Bad Bartender: A citizen called the police because he thought the bartender slipped alcohol or drugs into his juice. Police turned up and found out that the caller and bartender have an ongoing feud. No intoxication detected.

License Plates: A resident reported his car’s license plates – both front and read – were stolen.

Rowdy Lady: A woman at a fancy restaurant in Sausalito had just a wee bit too much to drink and became unruly. She was described as 30-ish with a small dog. She gave employees a hard time. The establishment wanted her removed. Police were called

Marin Sheriff

Murder: On Sunday July 24,, at approximately 10:06 a.m., multiple 9-1-1 calls were received reporting rapid gunfire in the area of Cole Drive and Drake Avenue in Marin City. The first Deputy arrived approximately 30 seconds after the initial call was dispatched. Upon arrival, the Deputy located a male and female near a silver sedan injured. The male was suffering from an unknown number of gunshots and removed from the vehicle by the Deputy. Life saving measures were attempted and the man was transported to an area hospital by fire personnel where he succumbed to his injuries. The female in the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries, was transported to a local hospital and later released.  A firearm was recovered from the scene.

During the Investigation, Detectives were able to identify a person of interest in the homicide.

Butler was booked into the Marin County Jail on the following charges: Murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting an inhabited dwelling/occupied vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm.

Cliff Fall: On Tuesday, July 19, at about 12:32 p.m. a 911 call reported a person riding his electric powered bicycle on the Bay View Trail within the China Camp State Park lost control of his bicycle while ascending a hillside and rode off a steep ridgeline falling to the ground below. The subject was located on a steep ravine with injuries consistent with a long fall.  First Responders were dispatched to the scene, located the subject and Paramedics provided resuscitative aid.  Despite the extensive efforts of bystanders and Paramedics, the subject died at the scene.

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Mill Valley

July 15 – 22, 2022

Wine & Fentanyl: Mill Valley’s finest were sent to a local grocery store after it was reported that a person had stolen wine and fled the area in a vehicle. One of our officers found the vehicle driving out of town on Shoreline Hwy shortly after the witness called our dispatch center. The driver of the vehicle saw our officer and fled the area at a high rate of speed, while driving into the on-coming lane of traffic.  The driver got away after the officer chose not to pursue them, however a second officer found the vehicle hidden in a driveway on Tennessee Valley Road, at a residence they didn’t belong to. Following an investigation, 21 bottles of stolen wine were located along with cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, Xanax, and crack cocaine.  The person responsible was arrested and it was determined he has a long history of committing similar crimes throughout Marin and Mill Valley.

Sadly, this the second of three incidents over three days where our officers located the extremely dangerous drug fentanyl.

Hit & Run: Someone hit a parked van on Miller Street. It was an employee’s car who was working in the store. It was caught on video, which has been forwarded to police by the store.

Profane Yeller: A woman yelled bad words in her backyard on Throckmorton. She asked to go inside and yell bad words if she must, she threw a rock at her neighbor’s fence. Police knocked on her door, but she would not answer. They told her through the door that if she didn’t knock it off, she WILL come and arrest her for disturbing the peace.

Profane YellerII : The same woman did the same thing a week before. Police told her that if she didn’t stop she would be arrested.

Drunk: A man took sushi and alcohol from a store. Police took him to jail.

Vandalism: A bathroom window was broken on July 19 at the school on Blithedale Avenue.

Race Words: A woman yelled racial slurs as she sat on a bench on Throckmorton. Police arrived and did not observe the bad behavior. The woman was uncooperative and walked away.

Burglaries: Two businesses were burglarized on Miller Avenue on July 15. Computers were taken.

Car Keyed: A woman who lives on Hilarita Avenue reported to police that her car was “keyed” and she thinks it is her boyfriend’s ex-wife.

Mental Crisis: A man having mental health issues yelled at bystanders. Police responded and moved the guy along.
