Marin 911: Too much military music

Sausalito

Nov. 24 – 30, 2020

Military Music:  A citizen on Bonita Street complained to police that a resident was playing “military propaganda” all day and he’s sick of it. Police responded and resolved. 

English, Dammit: A very angry citizen on Sausalito Boulevard complained to police about a construction crew starting noisy business before 8 a.m. She tried to talk to the crew, but they didn’t speak English, and that made her even more angry. 

Spit Man: An old man with a walker spit on a bus driver on Dec. 1. The old spitter was removed from the bus. The driver did not want to press charges. 

Stinky: Someone dumped a bag of rags that smelled to high heaven in a citizen’s recycling bin on Fourth Street. Police called. Advice given. 

Pie Caper: A beef ensued over $70 worth of pies at a local establishment. Questions of whether the patron had paid or not. Police responded to the pie caper. Resolution not disclosed. 

Tesla Woman: A 50-ish woman with a small dog wearing a red flannel shirt (her, not the dog) staggered around a parking lot on Bridgeway mumbling that she was going to kill somebody’s brother. She eventually got into a Tesla car. Police arrived and handled. Oddly enough, no alcohol was involved.

Dazed Fox: A resident on Pine Street called police about a fox in the backyard that looked “confused” and “not normal.” Humane Society notified. 

Fairfax

Nov. 7 – 13, 2020

Welfare Check: An elderly man with cancer had not been seen for a few days, so neighbors called police to check on him. They did. All’s well. 

Loud Music: A citizen told police that loud music is going on at Doc Edgar Park and it happens every blessed week. The citizen wanted a decibel check. Police provided service.

Skate Urchin: An officer gave a verbal warning to a skateboarding scofflaw at Fairfax Plaza. 

No Mask: A patron at a local grocery store refused to put on a mask. Police were called and handled the situation.

Fight Club: A group of kids were boxing and filming themselves at Contratti Field. Police handled. 

Burglary: A burglary was reported on Bolinas Road. Police handled.

Raccoon Woes: A racoon got stuck in a trash can on Meernaa Avenue and rattled around for about two hours. Police finally called, but, as raccoon’s often do, the critter escaped just before the cops arrived. 

Novato

Nov. 19 – 29, 2020

Theft: Novato Police are searching for the man, above, in the theft of a Rolex watch valued at $50,000. The theft occurred at just before noon on Dec. 1 at the Gold Rush Jewelers on Diablo Avenue. Information can be provided to Novato Police Department by calling our Investigations section at 415-897-4361 or by emailing crimetips@novato.org. Anonymous tips can also be reported to Novato Police Department through TEXT-A-TIP on this message. Text TIP NOVATO followed by your message, to 888777 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Assault: A report of an assault and battery took place on Enfrente Road on Nov. 19. Other items responded to on the shift included three child abuse reports, one Ignacio Valley Circle, one of Kaehler Street and one on Entrada Drive, a welfare check on Oliva Drive and a vandalism/graffiti report at an undisclosed location. 

Welfare Check: Novato police responded to a welfare check on Nov. 20 on an individual on Reichert Avenue as well as a fraud report on Vintage Way and a stolen vehicle on Hamilton Parkway. 

Unwanted: A person deemed unwanted was reported on Palm Drive during the Nov. 21 shift. Also, police responded to something suspicious on SIxth Street, a welfare check on Marion Avenue and a child abuse report. 

Drunk Driving: Police handled a drunk driving report on Diablo Avenue during the Nov. 22 shift as well as a number of other reports throughout the city, including a noise disturbance on San Marin Drive and a hit-and-run on Marion Avenue. 

Drunk Driver: A suspected drunk driver was reported to police on Nov. 23, but the idiot managed to weave his way Novato’s finest and disappear into the night. Other items on the log this night were a domestic violence case reported on Alameda Del Prado and an unwanted person roaming Grant Street. 

Child Abuse: Police received a report of child abuse on Nov. 24 on Oak Grove Drive. Officers on this shift found themselves performing several welfare checks and pursuing a reckless driver on Ignacio Boulevard. 

 Burglary: Police took a report of a burglary on Entrada drive on Nov. 25. 

Parties & Fights: On Thanksgiving Day Novato officers of the law responded to several fights and loud parties throughout the town, one on Estrella Way, one on Leafwood Drive and still another on Rowland Way. A couple of drunk driving reports topped off the holiday. 

Parties Continue: Police responded to a party complaint on De Long Avenue and a suicide attempt on Vallejo Avenue. 

Five Finger Discount: Novato’s finest responded to a shoplifting complaint on Nov. 28 and made an arrest after a family dispute on Fairhaven Way.

Suspicious Drunk: Two calls of a suspicious character and one call of a public drunk had Novato police headed out to Grant Avenue on Nov. 29. Police also were kept busy with a threats report on Redwood Boulevard and suspicious circumstances on Railroad Avenue.
