Marin 911: Vagrants, residents tangle in Mill Valley

MILL VALLEY

Move Along: A woman complained to police that a homeless man had set up camp across from her house and she wanted police to move him along. Police said they contacted the homeless man and offered him services but he refused. Police told them woman that the state of the law as it regards to the homeless is that police can’t just make him “move along.”

Homeless Camp: A citizen reported that a white van pulled up alongside a homeless encampment on Lovell Avenue. A verbal argument ensued, with profanities being slung often and for all to hear. The incident calmed down when police arrived.

Sleeper: A man was passed out in his car on Elma Street on Aug. 3. Citizens became concerned the may be having a medical emergency. Police and fire responded. He was sleeping in his car.

Car Living: A rusty old car with trash in the back has been parked King and Lyon Streets for about 3 months. Citizen worried someone is living in it. Police marked the car for future reference. 

Bad Behavior: A homeless woman set up camp near school property on Throckmorton Avenue and proceeded to berate parents and children coming back to school. The foul-mouthed woman refused services from the police, so there’s nothing they can do.

Gone: A resident of Lovell Avenue woke up on Aug. 3 to find their car gone. It was parked on the street. Report taken.

No Fishing: Two men were fishing on the Park Avenue bridge. A citizen told them fishing was not allowed. The citizen asked police to swing by and make sure they were gone. They were.

Mom & Daughter: Police responded to a family dispute between a mother and her daughter. The daughter told police that her mom pulled her hair and slapped her. Until things calmed, the mother promised to say upstairs and the daughter downstairs. Both given police contact information should things flare up again.

Speed Bumps: A paratransit rider called police and told them the driver was deliberately going over speed bumps too fast and trying to hurt passengers. Police told the complainant that they found no merit to the crime. The complainer said the driver “hated” her because she was white. Also, no merit to a crime.

Grocery Theft: A woman filled a canvas bag with frozen groceries and left a store on Corte Madera Avenue without paying. Several stores have been hit with similar incidents involving a “gang” of four.
