Editor’s Note: Yes, there are public safety issues in bucolic Marin County. These are just a few of the latest gleaned from cop logs by the journalists at Marin Local News.
MILL VALLEY
Being There: A man dressed in fatigues stood in the fire lane in front of a school staring at the sun. People near him reported to dispatchers that he said nothing. Just looked up. One said he may be under the influence. Another speculated he was having a mental breakdown. Police arrived and talked to the sun gazer. The man refused to talk to police and then left the scene to undoubtedly worry more people in Mill Valley.
Party: A person hosting an event asked police if their presence is needed for the entire event, given what happened in Novato recently. What happened in Novato was not detailed in the cop log.
MARIN COUNTY SHERIFF
Cow Crossing: About 5 cows were reported on the roadway on Dillon Beach Road on March 13. Possible break in fence. Service provided.
Close Encounter: A person walking in Tiburon passed a man in a red beanie who made a “vulgar look.” Police called. Service provided.
Dead Bodies: Deputies responded to three separate scenes in this reporting period of dead bodies. No police action required.
SAUSALITO
Bathroom Man: A 40-ish man holed up in the public bathroom on Ebbtide Avenue and drank beer and smoked like a chimney. This was the second day in a row he polluted the bathroom and adults urged all children to stay out of the bathrooms. Police arrived and talked to guy. He promised to move along, beer and cigs in hand.
Oh Deer: A deer jumped off a roof on Bridgeway on March 8, severely injuring itself. Body moved to DPW Corp yard for pick-up.
Looked Dead: A woman appeared lifeless in a restaurant’s public restroom in Downtown Sausalito. Police called. She wasn’t dead but she had perhaps passed out. She walked out on her own two feet.
Tandem Bike: A red tandem bicycle worth about $2,000 was reported stolen from the Muni lot on Anchor Street on March 12. Service provided.
Vagabond: A homeless man camped out in front of a business’ door on Bridgeway. He was asked to leave but basically gave the owner the middle finger along with a few choice shouted words. Police called. Man moved along.
Blue Baby: The owner of a sapphire blue Bentley found damage to the front bumper and reported it to police. Service provided.
Diaper Bag: A woman reported she lost a diaper bag sometime over the weekend near the “Welcome to Sausalito” sign. Service provided.
