Marin 911: Woman struck by train in Novato identified

Train Death: At just before noon on Friday, Feb. 10,  Lucy Lau Hom, 83, was the sole occupant of a vehicle, which was driving eastbound on Hamilton Parkway and failed to yield or stop at the train crossing, driving through the crossing guard gate despite the flashing warning lights and crossing alarms activated, and was subsequently struck by an oncoming SMART train traveling in the southbound direction. First Responders were immediately summoned to the scene and arrived shortly thereafter. Due to the extent of her injuries, resuscitative measures were not warranted, and she was pronounced deceased on the scene. Ms. Hom was a Novato resident. 

Sex Arrest: On Jan. 30, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the victim of a sexual assault that occurred in San Quentin Village. After investigation, detectives arrested

on Feb. 9, Orlando Ponce, 43, of San Quentin for forcible penetration on an unconscious person.
