In response to heightened federal immigration enforcement across the nation, the County of Marin is expanding urgent support services for illegal immigrants in Marin.
Building on its longstanding commitment to equity and inclusion, the Marin County Board of Supervisors earlier this year unanimously approved a $500,000 investment to protect and support immigrant community members.
Through the Marin County Office of Equity, those funds are now being directed to local partners providing vital legal, financial, and community-based assistance. TheMarin County Office of Education and nonprofit Immigration Legal Defensewill begin offering free immigration legal services for Marin families and students, including legal screenings, representation, and removal defense. Services will be multilingual and available countywide.
In addition, Community Action Marin will soon launch an Immigrant Emergency Assistance Fund, providing immediate, flexible aid for families affected by immigration detention. The fund aims to prevent housing instability, hunger, and other crises that can follow the sudden detention or deportation of a family member.
Thanks to County leadership support, the Marin County Public Defender’s Officehas also expanded its capacity by hiring Carla Gomez, a second full-time criminal-immigration attorney. Gomez brings two decades of experience in criminal defense and immigration deportation law to strengthen the County’s commitment to holistic defense.
A 24-hour hotline is available to assist community members seeking accurate information and real-time support during immigration enforcement actions. The Marin Rapid Response Network, operated by the Multicultural Center of Marin and partially funded by the County, can be reached by calling or texting (415) 991-4545. On October 23, when federal agents were reportedly active in the Bay Area, the hotline fielded more than 100 calls for help.
“Considering the uncertainty and fear caused by recent federal immigration enforcement, we want our community to know this: Marin County stands with you,” said Jamillah Jordan, the County’s Equity Director. “Through rapid and dignified support services, we are committed to ensuring that every community member, regardless of immigration status, feels seen, valued, and supported.”
The County of Marin continues to:
- Share up-to-date information on rights, legal support, and community resources;
- Coordinate local services safely and effectively; and
- Work closely with cities, towns, and community-based partners to ensure clear communication and preparedness.

Describing immigrants as “Illegal aliens” in the headline is extremely demeaning and it lines right up with the pedophile defender’s daily rhetoric.
Are you kidding? What a disgrace. They’re breaking the law
