Mill Valley ex-mayor resigns, moves to Sonoma County

August 8, 2022 by Marin 1 Comment

Sashi Sabaratnam

Mill Valley City Councilmember Sashi McEntee, who sparked a firestorm by making an offhand comment during the Black Lives Matter movement, has resigned her seat as she is moving to Sonoma County.

McEntee, now Sashi Sabaratnam after a recent divorce and marriage, works for the California Cooperative extension in Sonoma County.

She bumped into the passion behind the BLM movement when as mayor she seemed to discount the importance of the BLM movement when she said it was “council policy that we do not take action on issues that are not of immediate local importance.”

She later apologized and said she wasn’t clear about what she meant.
