Novato bursting with holiday cheer

December 4, 2023 by Marin 1 Comment

The holiday spirit is spread throughout Novato this year.

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony took place last week as did the Holiday Crafts Faire.

The Novato Police Department concluded a crafting event with local children and the elves at “Letters to Santa” remain hard at work receiving and replying to letters written by children of all ages.

To participate, the elves ask that parents of children drop off their lists with a self-addressed, stamped envelope at the Novato Gymnastics Center, 950 7th Street, or at the Margaret Todd Senior Center, 1560 Hill Road.

The Grand Menorah Lighting will take place Sunday, Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. at Novato City Hall, 901 Sherman Avenue. Join the Chabad Jewish Center of Novato as they light up the night with a Chanukah celebration! Enjoy donuts, hot latkas, crafts, games and more.

Also, SMART train passengers are invited to give toys to make a special holiday for needy kids. Each adult passenger who brings a new, unwrapped toy to donate will ride free. Kids accompanied by an adult will also ride free that day.

And finally, Downtown Novato merchants will hold a late shopping event on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. Your favorite stores will stay open late for holiday shopping and will be filled with special treats. Restaurants, bars, taprooms and tasting rooms will be bursting with live music and holiday cheer.

On Dec. 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the Margaret Todd Senior Center, 1560 Hill Road, the sweetest event of the season takes place. Drop by and for $20 you will receive a kit that includes a gingerbread house, frosting, icing, candies, and sprinkles. Registration is asked.
